Each year a ranking of America's top 10 beaches is published by "Dr. Beach" Stephan Leatherman, a professor at Florida International University. The criteria for the ranking is cleanliness, amenities and safety. This year, again, Naples ranks in the top 10 with Delnor Wiggins State Beach and Barefoot Beach in North Naples. The ranking is a feather in our cap as tourists from around the USA and the world see that Naples continues to be a sought-after destination for its top quality beaches that string along the Gulf Shore. Personally, I spend a good deal of time at the Park Shore beach because of its private beach park, parking and the new restroom facilities installed a couple of years ago. There is also a large picnic area and access to the boardwalk that stretches over a mile down to Doctors Pass.
For those who are lucky enough to spend time in Naples, a long walk along the white sand and calm waters of the Gulf is invigorating and relaxing at the same time. Our beaches have a completely different feel than those of the east coast of Florida along the Atlantic. The Gulf provides a calmer experience and the turquoise water is mesmerizing. Fishermen stand in the serene water and cast their lines; paddle boarders take in the afternoon sun from 100 yards off shore and boats glide along the horizon as the sun sets into the Gulf. A Naples sunset is a treasure to be relished and many come with beach chairs and a cold drink to witness the end of another perfect day in Naples.
It is no wonder Naples has claimed its position as one of the top beach towns in America....again! Read the full article:
